2008 has been an extremely difficult year for me. I'm hoping 2009 will be a better year for my family. I'm getting some guidance and support which I truly do need. Lee is getting some help that he needs through school. I'm trying to be kind to myself and improve myself as each day starts. It's hard because sometimes I don't like the person I've become. I am coming to terms with certain horrible events from my childhood so I can finally be at peace with myself.

In six days, Dave and I will the parents of two children. I can't believe it's almost here. I'm ready for the big day. Really. We've decided that Griffin will be the last one. Two's enough for us. I'll be updating the blog with Griffin's info next week!

We received some snow here in Syracuse finally. I was really enjoying the great balmy weather (for this time of year) we were having, but what are you going to do?

We brought Lee out to play in the snow for the first time. I think he liked it. Unfortunately, he wanted to continue walking up the street where people hadn't shoveled, so I had to pick him up and bring him toward the house. He didn't like that. He doesn't appreciate when you try to tell him what to do.

I've got the C-section scheduled for the end of February. Yeah! I'm 32 weeks now. I feel as if I've been pregnant forever and feel as if it's about time already. Only seven weeks. Yikes. I've been feeling okay. Still have heartburn and am very tired all of the time. And I can't eat too much or ...... . I'm sure you don't want to know all the details.

I got rid of my Liberty and we have a minivan now. Wow. I said I never wanted a minivan, but hey, it's awesome. It's going to be great this summer with two kids and a big dog going back and forth to our camp. It's a nice blue color.

Okay, so I've said this before. I will try to post more often. I see by my site tracker, there are people that check out this blog and I do appreciate it, so I will try.

Yes, it's been a long time since I posted last, but let's forget all of that and start over.

So what's been going on with us you may ask? Well........we're expecting a baby boy at the beginning of March! Yes, another boy. We're very excited of course. Everything with the pregnancy is going well. I've been having stomach troubles, but as long as I watch what I eat, I feel okay. The delivery will be a scheduled C-section so I'll keep everyone posted once we have a date set up.

Happy Turkey Day everyone! Can you believe it's here already? Soon it's going to be 2007.

Another news...we bought a camper on/near Lake Ontario earlier this fall. We'll be spending most weekends up there starting in April through October. We got a great deal and know the boys will love it when they get a little older. I have to say, Lee did enjoy himself when we where there last.

Sadly, I'm not going to post any pictures right now. It takes me a while to pick them out and upload them. Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance. We have so many pictures to go through.

A couple of weeks ago, we took a road trip to the Honesdale, PA area for my stepfather Al's family reunion. There were a lot of people there and everyone was so friendly. We all had different color nametags depending on which branch of the family we were from.

No, I haven't posted for a while but I have a good reason.

My computer is, how should I say it, giving me problems. And I'm lucky our house hasn't burned down yet.

Yeah, yeah, so I dropped it a few times...

Now when I plug it in to the power adaptor (it's a laptop), sometimes there's a popping noise and then nothing. Other times, like this morning, it worked fine. A new computer is not in our budget right now since I've been staying home from work. We've even gotten rid of cable!

So when the computer is working, I'll make a post. I have lots of pictures too.

And the big news is Lee is finally crawling. Like a madman. All the months of physical therapy have paid off.

Ok, I know I haven't posted in a while.

We've been busy and had a sad thing happen to us.

Our family's thoughts are with my friend Jenn and her family. We're sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

Last Saturday we took a road trip to Grandma's. It was Grandma's birthday earlier in the week and Grandpa Al's was the following week.

Oh, what a mild winter it's been here in Syracuse except for a few cold spells. One of which we're in right now. The current temperature is 14 degrees. Needless to say, Lee and I have been hanging inside for the past couple of days.

We've been having fun in our Gymboree class every Thursday. We've made some new friends--Molly, Arjun and Davis! Maybe I'll bring the camera next time for some pictures.

I've been working on birthday presents for my Mom and stepfather, Al. I can't post pictures right now, but I will after Saturday.

I've been trying hard to get some knitting done. The first picture is a hat and sweater I'm making Lee. The hat is being done on two circular needles so I'll see how it turns out. I think the blue is really going to bring out the blue in his eyes.

The second is a baby blanket I've been working on a while for my friend Lauren and her baby Raya. I really need to finish it soon since they're coming for a visit in a couple of weeks.

And the last is a sock! I'm so proud of myself. I've gotten as far as I can with the directions so I'll get some help with the rest.

This past Friday, my mother and stepfather braved the weather and came up for a visit. Grandma had lots of fun playing with Lee while Al and I worked on getting his antique bicycle items on Ebay. We wished they lived closer!

Wow. It's been a while. It's been a busy week.

Last Monday, Lee took a nosedive off the couch and landed on his face. His nose immediately started bruising, but he cried right away. I called Dave at work, who thankfully works five minutes away, and we rushed Lee to the Dr's. Everything checked out and Lee was smiling and laughing the same evening.

On Wednesday night, I got together with Beth, Peg, and Stephanie. Beth tried to teach me to knit socks on two circular needles, but I just wasn't getting it. I'm not giving up though. I just need to finish some projects for other people first. I hope to get together with all of them soon.

Saturday, Lee and I went to a co-worker's shower. I'm knitting a blanket which is almost finished. Someone won't leave me alone today to finish it....... It was great to see everyone again. My friend Jenn brought her baby,Ryan who is only two weeks younger than Lee. And let me tell you, that Ryan is something else! He was crawling around like a madman and making all kinds of noises. He wanted to be friends with Lee, but unfortunately Lee was overwhelmed with the amount of people and the noise. My arms and knees hurt that night from hauling Lee around. He didn't want anyone else to hold him for very long. Lee weighs close to 23 pounds now! I talked to some women who have new babies so hopfully we'll be getting together for play dates.

After lunch, we went to check out the local library. I picked up a kid's crochet book, Debbie Bliss' "baby knits for beginners" and Nick Horby's new one "A Long Way Down." Hornby's the guy who wrote "High Fidelity" and "About a Boy." I really need to start reading fiction again.

Well, Lee's tired and cranky. Time to go.

I finished a sweater! I found a quick and easy pattern and did it! Granted, it's not the best fit, but I love the colors and the sleeves are long enough to cover up Lee's hands. Lee likes it too.

Time is flying right by! Both Lee and I caught colds this past week, but are getting over them now.

Grandma and Grandpa Al are coming for a visit on Friday.

Lee finally fell asleep for his afternoon nap so I have a chance to post.

Here are some pics I took last week. He was so messy I couldn't resist taking them. He loves to smile when he sees the camera now.

The last picture he is chewing his tongue. He still doesn't have any teeth yet, but I've talked to quite a few mothers recently who said their children's teeth didn't come in until they were almost a year. Lee's been chewing and gnawing on stuff for months.

We all went to a surprise birthday party for our friend Mike on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. Lee cried when everyone yelled "Surprise" and tooted the party favors, but he was great for the rest of the time.

Yesterday we went to the zoo with our friends Jen, Carter, and Holden. Carter just turned 3 and talks and talks! I couldn't understand much of what he said, but Jen could. He is so curious and full of energy. I can't wait until Lee is his age!
Holden is 4 months old and is a cutie pie. He seems so small compared to Lee, but there is only a three month difference.

The animals at the zoo were quite active. Usually, most of them are sleeping. The lions both roared and one of the tigers was close to the display window. The snow leopard was even up and walking. Unfortunately, the penguin display still has a leak so they weren't out. Bummer. Of course I didn't bring my camera.

On Friday (yes, almost a week ago), we went to the zoo. It was a perfect autumn day and there were very few people there. The last time David and I went was on my due date in May and the place was mobbed with kids. I was afraid someone was going to run into my belly. I don't know how much Lee knew what was going on. He was pretty comfy in his stroller. There were decorations up for the "Boo at the Zoo" which were fun to see:

Lee has been getting physical therapy for about 2 months now. He was behind developmentally for his head control. He id doing great now and seems to be up to par. He'll continue the therapy until March when he'll be re-evaluated. It's amazing to see how much he's changing day-to-day.

Yesterday, Lee had his four-month checkup. He received some immuzations. He weighed 18.2 pounds and measured 27 inches. He is above the 90th precentile for both.

He's cranky and tired this morning. My Mom and three of her friend stopped by our house to say hello on their way to the Cayuga Lake to check out the wineries this morning.

Since I'm out of work and need to keep a tight rein on the spending and I have a ton of yarn in my stash, I've resolved to make Lee some sweaters. I need to find a pattern which is easy and quick since I have no problem using the same pattern with different yarns.

Here's the sweater I'm working on now:

I'm using a dark green yarn and a multi-colored yarn together to make this pattern.

Now the question is, will I finish it?

So it's a rainy day here is Syracuse. I'm running around trying to get some housework done before David gets home. I don't want to look too much like a slacker. The hallway is painted and the furniture moved back in. I try to get chores done when Lee is occupied with other things besides me, but it's very hard. I don't want him to sleep all day and then be up all night.

If you haven't noticed, I changed the colors of my blog. I had no reference color chart for the numbers to go by, so I entered numbers randomly and came out with this. I really like it and it only took me three hours last night.

I'm actually getting out of the house tonight. A friend of mine is having a candle party and I am going. I don't really need any candles but it will be great to get out and socialize.

Home Improvement?

Can I tell you how difficult it is to get anything done with a four-month old around?

In an effort to improve the decorating of our house, I've been busy. First of all I bought slipcovers for the couch and chair in the living rooms. Unfortunately, it seems they are both two different shades of moss green. The couch slipcover is almost an olive color and the chair slipcover has more blue in it. I've decided I'm keeping them though. I'm either going to buy or make matching pillows to tie everything in. Now all I have to deal with with the pink recliner......

David's mother lived in the downstairs of our house before she passed away. Sadly, I never met her, but I think her favorite color was pink. I have repained the downstairs bathroom and am now working on the hallway as you can see::

I've discovered painting is not that bad once you get going. I want to put another coat of paint on the walls and work on the ceiling tomorrow.

I'm really going to start posting more. It's been almost a month. I've been feeling like I haven't had much to talk about, but a lot has been happening.

Lee is getting so big and maturing so fast. I notice changes everyday. It's truly amazing how he is developing. Right now, he's on the floor playing with his gymini. There are three hanging animals that move and play music once he touches them. He loves to grab and stare at them.

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted last.

You know fall is around the corner when the NYS Fair starts. Unfortunately, Lee and I aren't going to the fair this year. Dave is going a couple of days to see Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper/Cheap Trick.

I am not much of a summer person. I love the fall except my birthday is coming up. I'm getting old I'm afraid. I'm looking forward in a couple of years to going to get a pumpkin with Lee and taking him trick o'treating but of course that's not happening right away.

Lee is doing fine. He had a checkup at the beginning of the month which included three shots of immunizations. He did great. I was the one who had to look away! Thank God Dave went with us.

I'm back. I was all gung-ho on this blog when I first started, but now it's hard for me to think of anything to say. Things are the same. The weather is still hot. At least I'm not at work. It's been three months already. Hee hee. Tomorrow we going to visit my mother outside of Binghamton. Dave is making his wonderful gazpacho to bring down. It's great to be married to a cook, let me tell you. I hate to cook! Baking is fun, mostly because I eat most of the dough. Is that why I'm not fitting into any clothes except sweat pants and my fatty pants?

Lee is fine. He's discovered his hands so he'll make a fist with his right hand and hold it in front of his face. It's funny to watch. He does it whenever he's awake. I bought a set of wrist rattles today. He liked them. I want to buy some for his feet next.

I haven't done any knitting. I wanted to get the back of the sweater finished so my buddy Beth can help me put it all together sometime this weekend, but it's just not going to happen.

My new favorite channel is VH1 Classic. I am watching a General Public video. I love watching videos for the songs I love, but man, they play some sucky ones too like "Uptown Girl" and "Walking on Sunshine."

I don't know how to describe the noise that is made when you hold a piece of grass between your thumbs and blow. Kind of sounds like an unhappy elephant. It was so hot Thursday night that we all sat on our front lawn. Dave, the smart one bailed early once he figured out what was going on. This is a picture of my father, my brother Chris and sister-in-law Kirin trying to communicate with the elephants at the zoo. They were kind of loud. My neighbors were probably thinking, "who the hell are those weirdos?" It was pretty funny though.

Ha ha. Just kidding everyone who was here last week. All and all I think everyone had a great time. It was good to reconnect with my father again. It's interesting the family dynamics never change, everyone is stuck in time. With my family, the big thing is making fun of each other. And oh, we had a great time at that. The most amazing thing that happened was my mother and father were in the same room for the first time in 18 years. My father seems to still harbor some bad feelings toward my mother but he handled himself like a champ. Even met my stepfather. I am so proud of him. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the great even. Damn.

But I do have lots of other pics, mostly of Lee of course.

My father is flying in from Utah today to see Lee. We haven't seen each other in 5 years so I'm a little nervous. I don't want to go into any details just in case he reads this but that said, I think all families have issues. My brother and his wife from LA will be here tomorrow also to see the Lee-meister. Nothing like a baby to bring people together. Should be a great visit, Everyone is leaving here on Friday so it's a very short visit.

I just wanted to say I am on maternity leave. That's why I am posting so much during the day. I really enjoy writing and taking pictures even though some people may find it boring. Oh well for them. I have a laptop Mac which is very convenient for moving from room to room. Writing on the blog makes me feel like I am accomplishing something other than taking care of the baby. It's good for me to do something for me when Lee is asleep. He can be very demanding when he's hungry which feels like all of the time and in this heat, the last thing I want next to me is another hot sweaty body glomming onto to me. Does that sound horrible? Oh well again.

Since I've been home, I've been staying up later. And watching more TV. I can now say I watch five shows on a regular basis. Wow, I've never done that before. I've been too busy or couldn't stay up late. And most of the shows are reality shows, hence the title of this post.

1) I watch Hell's Kitchen because David is a cook and I worked in restaurants for a long time. I can't say whether I care about any of the contestants and don't care who wins. I think they all are a bunch of wankers and whiners. I'm only watching it because there are only three episodes left. Yeah right.

2) also watch Big Brother. The people on the show are so obnoxious and fake I'd like to punch them. I watch it because I found a very funny blog at tvgasm.com (I haven't figured out how to do links yet) which makes fun of all the contestants. Very funny. I also like to try to figure out why the show is on three times a week. It seems very complicated and everyone is planning and stabbing each other in the back, I feel I would miss something if I skipped an episode.

3) I watch Rockstar-INXS (whatever the hell it is) only on Tuesday and Wednesday nights because it gets right down to the nitty gritty without too much personal fluff which is why I don't like to watch it on Monday. INXS was also one of my favorite bands long ago and I still like to hear their music.

4) Just watched The Cut last night for the first time. And why? It's because the TV with the cable is on the second floor where there is no A/C. The little TV in the bedroom has no cable and the channel which comes in the clearest is CBS which The Cut is shown. This show is about designers and Tommy Hilfiger or whatever his name is. I know nothing about designing or decorating so it was interesting at the same time as being boring. The contestants are obnoxious but not as bad as Big Brother. A positive thing about this show it's only on once a week.

All of the show have websites which do a great job summarizing previous episodes. It was the fifth or sixth episode for The Cut and after going to the website, I feel like I haven't missed anything.

5) The fifth show is Battlestar Galactica. I got suckered into this show by David, who is somewhat of a sci-fi geek. He's also gotten me into Babylon 5 (yes, I did watch all five seasons on DVD) and Deep Space Nine ( six or seven seasons on DVD and a big book explaining each episode.) Oh yeah, and all nine seasons of the X-Files which I enjoyed immensely. I even bought the ninth season on DVD myself. I really like this show because it's dark and serious and doesn't try to be funny. There are no cute aliens or robots, no comic relief at all. I watched to original when I was a kid and had a crush both on Starbuck and Apollo.

Okay, enough for now. Lee needs me.

More sleep

Last night we put the bassinet in our bedroom next to my side of the bed. Lee fell asleep around 11 and then woke up for a feeding at 1. I think I fell asleep with him still in the bed. I woke up some unknown time later (I do know it was dark still) and slipped back into the bassinet where he slept until 6:30. It was so much easier than getting up out of bed and I know Lee felt more comfortable. It was great for me because I could hear him moving around before he woke and started crying. I think now that I am a mother I am wired differently. Whenever Lee makes a sound or moves around, I wake up.

The first picture is Lee sleeping in the bassinet. He's not going to fit in it much longer. It has wheels so I push him all around the house like a shopping cart. He seems to like that.

The second picture was taken this morning in his swing. He's not unconscious, just asleep.

This is the back of a sweater I am knitting for Lee. It's the first sweater I've ever made. I shouldn't say that-I started two other sweaters but got lost in the directions. I'm determined to finish this sweater whether I understand the directions or not, no matter how bad it looks. It will feel so good to figure out a pattern and actually make something besides a baby blanket (I've already made three of those.)

I want to make a bunch of sweaters so I won't have to buy any this weekend. I have a couple of Debbie Bliss books and my friend Beth has a ton of books too.

I'm not into the expensive yarn. When I go to a yarn shop, anything I buy is in the sale bin. Someday when I have more time and money, I'll be more interested in different types of yarn and can afford to buy some.

I love this picture of Lee. It was taken a couple of weeks ago when he was in the crib. He makes some really funny faces as you can see. He really is much cuter in person than in a picture. I talked to my friend Lauren and she said most babies are cuter in person than in a photo which I did not know.

So last night was a nightmare! Lee was awake from 4pm until around 1am. We tried several times to get to stay asleep in the crib. I ended up nursing him in bed and then of course, we all fell asleep. Bad habit. I woke up I think around 3 am and told David to put him in his crib, which David being the absolutely wonderful father and husband did. Lee remained asleep until 7:30. What you have to understand, Lee's room is just off our bedroom. His crib is approximately 10 ft away from our bed. I know he does not realize we are so close so I think he's afraid to be alone. So...what we're going to do tonight is squeeze his bassinet in our room somewhere and let him sleep in there. It worked with Roxy when she was a puppy, so it should work with a human baby, right? Just kidding.

We went to our new required destination today, Babies-R-Us. I only spent $12.00 there which is the least I've ever spent. I bought a new type of pacifier to try. Lee kind of got the hang of it. I held it and he sucked a little. Mostly, he just gummed it but seemed to like it more than the other three typed of pacifiers I bought for him. We also went to the mall where I spent about $40.00 on new clothes and hats. He doesn't have any long sleeved shirts for the fall so I found some on sale, probably from last season. Of course all the summer stuff is on sale now so I picked up a cute onsie kind of thing with a dinosaur on it! Everything I bought was on sale so I don't feel bad.

It's funny how my priorities change. I refuse to buy any new clothes. I've lost 28 of the 43 pounds I put on so I am still not fitting into my pre-maternity pants. My shirts are tight because my boobs are so big, but I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is tight pants. I was so sick of wearing sweat pants so I did go to Walmart and bought a cheap pair of khaki size 16 capris. They are already drooping off my butt to the point of me having to pull them up every 15 minutes or so.

My friend Jenn had her baby Ryan on June 16th so that makes Lee 15 days older. It's fun to talk to her about the babies and someone to commiserate with! I still haven't seen Ryan but we'll get together soon.

I put Lee in his crib about 10 pm. Of course he woke up. I nursed him to sleep and then tried yet again to get the little bugger in his crib. I think he likes sleeping with Mommy and Daddy better. Then he woke up. He's going through a stage right now I hope. I asked David to take the baby around midnight since he was still up. I needed some sleep. Anyhow, David brought him back in the bedroom around 1 AM to be nursed again. This guy can sure eat! We all fell asleep shortly after but David put him in his crib when he woke up. He stayed asleep until 6 when he wanted to eat again. After that, we all slept in our bed until 8:30. So I guess I got some sleep last night.

Here is a picture of Roxy (the dog) and the cats. The huge fat tubby tabby is Louisa, the black cat is Milo and the smaller tabby is Baby Zazou. Louisa or as we call her Louie is queen of the house and Milo is her little boy-toy.

Enough with the heat already!

It's been soooo friggin' hot here in Central NY. Yesterday it was over 90 degrees and the rest of the week looks the same. Sure, I'd like to get out and take a walk or go shopping, but when it's like this, I don't want to go anywhere. David has the day off from work today so we're holed up in our bedroom with the A/C blasting. I feel very lazy. Hmmm....maybe a nap is in order..

This picture I've posted is a picture of the front of our house from January when a huge snowstorm hit. Not that I want a snowstorm or anything, but I'd take about 75 to 80 degree weather now.

No one will be reading this because no one knows it exists.....

The picture on the left is my son Lee who will six weeks old on Wednesday. I will probably be mostly writing about him but I promise I won't be too overbearing. I know what it's like to be bored listening to other people talk about their children.
